Summer Music Moves
A Music & Dance Festival

The pandemic has come to an end...well almost. At least, locking ourselves indoors and only watching virtual performance on computer screens and mobile devices has given way to being safe indoors with proper precautions. We are excited in 2022, to resume Summer Music Moves at the beautiful Baltimore Center Stage.

The FREE Summer Music Moves Festival will present LIVE music and dance in day of fabulous performances. In the early afternoon, enjoy dance by the Dance Baltimore Repertory Ensemble with special appearances by award winning youth ensembles. The concert is entitled TRYIN' TIMES. Premiers of two commissioned works will also be presented--Unplugged, solo selections inspired by the pandemic experience and Woman, a look into today's challenges facing women. Additionally, a very special restaging of a 1980's piece Suite: Brown Rice choreographed by Maria "The Storydancer" Broom will also be onstage. TRYIN' TIMES, yes, but dancing through to a more positive reality is the goal. All performances are free in the Pearlstone Theatre.

In the evening, it's a concert fusing the glorious music of Motown with contemporary and traditional jazz. MOJazz, an offshoot of the regional ensemble Motown & More offers up music from The Temptations, Supremes, Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and more

Summer Music Moves is presented with support form the Baltimore Jazz Alliance and the William G. Baker, Jr. Memorial Fund.
